Based on the fact you're adding the InvisiBrake # RM-8700, I believe you have one of the Curt tow bar wiring harnesses and you aren't actually referring to a trailer wiring harness or trailer lights. More than likely the problem is the diode installation. Double check the diodes and make sure the connections are correct. My contact at SMI advised that the Stay-in-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 that you currently have installed in your 2006 Jeep TJ can be installed in the 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler by cutting the JL's 8mm hard plastic line and installing the SMI 3/8-inch vacuum hose. According to the installation instructions for the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13432 they say that you need to detach the muffler from the hanger to ease the installation. You can install the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118786 on your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler Sport so long as the flat tow wiring kit you used does not connect behind the tail lights, which you will need in order to install Harness # 118786. Since there are no pins for where the F107 and F109 fuses would install it makes me wonder if maybe a dealer installed an aftermarket wiring harness like the Curt # C56407 which doesn't require those fuses to operate. This kind of wiring kit tees in behind the tail lights and then draws power for the trailer lights directly from the battery on your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler.

I can confirm when installing the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Kit # RM-154 on a 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL that the tail light wire on the driver's side is white and grey, and the tail light wire on the passenger side is white and orange. I do have ideas, which is that you almost certainly have an issue with a poor ground. I'm not 100% sure what you meant by "I then took the ground wire from the back of the Jeep and scraped the frame bottom" but you need to make sure your grounds are attached to bare metal surfaces and free of any paint, dirt or corrosion. Is that what you meant by scraping? If so, I'd go over it again and really give it a good, thorough cleaning.
